We begin by removing make-up from the face, décolletage and neck. We then divide the skin into areas the size of a credit card. We put on protective goggles.
The therapist moves the laser across the skin. The laser emits energy which heats the skin – the surface temperature reaches 45–50 degrees, whilst in the deeper layers of tissue it reaches 55–60 degrees. Each area is treated for 1 minute or according to the client’s tolerance to heat.
Once all areas have been treated, the second pass begins – the warming-up of the entire face, décolletage and neck is repeated. There may be two or three passes, depending on the skin’s and the client’s tolerance to the warming-up process.
The treatment concludes with the application of sun cream. Immediately after the treatment, the skin is moderately to severely reddened by the heat, but this effect subsides within 30 minutes. Results are visible straight away – the diffuse redness disappears, areas appear firmer and lifted, the skin looks refreshed, and pores are reduced.
Aftercare at home following the treatment is very straightforward – make sure you moisturise your skin well over the next few days and avoid exposure to the sun for at least 14 days. Apply SPF 50 sun cream every day and reapply it every 3 hours.
Non-ablative rejuvenation using an Nd:YAG laser is carried out using a specific ultra-short laser pulse. This enables the surface layers of the skin to be heated intensively and completely painlessly, thereby achieving cell stimulation, which form new connective tissue.
During the treatment, even the small, superficial capillaries in the skin are targeted, causing them to contract and reduce diffuse redness of the skin.
This procedure is recommended for patients with:
• rosacea and increased erythema (redness)
• fine lines
• uneven tan
• enlarged pores and scars
During the treatment, the skin is gently warmed. The procedure is painless and there is no need for a local anaesthetic. Many patients report a pleasant sensation and improved skin firmness from the very first day after treatment.
There may be some slight redness after the treatment, which subsides within a few hours. The use of sun protection products Post-treatment care is essential. Immediately after the procedure, the patient can resume their usual activities.
Non-ablative laser rejuvenation using an Nd:YAG laser is an effective method for treating diffuse vascular conditions such as:
Rosacea: This treatment can reduce the vascular changes typical of the early stages of the disease, as well as limit inflammation in the later stages.
Diffuse reddening of the skin: In cases of genetically predisposed or inflammatory skin redness, non-ablative laser therapy is the preferred method of choice.
Civatte’s poikiloderma: This condition, which is common in people with fair skin and results from long-term exposure to the sun, shows a significant improvement following treatment with an Nd:YAG laser.
To achieve the best possible outcome from the treatment, it is necessary to carry out 3 to 6 sessions over 4 weeks. The effect after the first treatment is visible, but insignificant compared with the potential final result.
The procedure is usually carried out after consultation, during which an assessment is made of the skin type and any existing skin problems, and both the most suitable laser treatment and the optimal number of sessions required to achieve the desired result are determined.
The final result of laser rejuvenation treatments is achieved two or three months after the end of the course during treatment. Results vary from person to person and depend on the patient’s age, skin type, lifestyle and other factors.
Once the course has finished, the following are recommended supporting procedures.
One of the greatest advantages of Nd:YAG rejuvenation is that the results of the treatment accumulate after each new course of treatment. The accelerated production of collagen continues after the treatment and peaks at around 3 months after the last treatment.
Due to the natural ageing process, it is difficult to say exactly how long the effects will last, but the benefits are visible a few years.
Any part of the body with uneven skin tone or texture, redness or scars can be treated. The results are excellent for rejuvenating the whole face, neck and décolletage, as well as on specific areas – the cheeks, forehead and chin.
Other areas of the body that reveal one’s age are also treated – elbows, arms, knees.
We can carry out the procedure 3–4 weeks after a Botox treatment or prior to a dermal filler treatment. Laser rejuvenation is also compatible with other injectable treatments, but only when careful planning.
The therapy not recommended during pregnancy; in patients with epilepsy and neurological conditions; in the presence of viral or bacterial infections in the treatment area; and in the case of malignant skin tumours.
