Morpheus8: radiofrequency fractional microneedling for facial and body rejuvenation

Morpheus8 is an innovative treatment that combines microneedling and radiofrequency, to treat the skin deep down.

The technology stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, by remodelling the tissues and improving the skin’s texture, firmness and rejuvenation.

The procedure is suitable for:

Morpheus8 is minimally invasive procedure, but some people experience discomfort. It is usually used local anaesthetic in the form of a cream, to reduce any discomfort.

In the more sensitive areas, the sensation is one of a tolerable prickling or warmth. The procedure is very brief and, even if you experience any discomfort, it is over very quickly.

For example, we treat the entire face for 15–20 minutes, and inner thighs for 20–25 mins.

The Morpheus8 procedure begins with consultation, during which we explain to the client in detail the nature of the procedure, the indications, the contraindications, the possible side effects and what results they can expect. We then assess whether this is the right procedure for the specific case.

The customer familiarises themselves with the contents of Informed consent and gives the go-ahead for the treatment to proceed. The procedure begins with preparation – cleaning and disinfecting the area to be treated.

• Pain relief the area with an anaesthetic cream containing lidocaine. After application, the area is covered with cling film and you wait for 60–80 minutes. If necessary, the anaesthetic is reapplied.
• The anaesthetic cream is removed, and the skin is cleaned and disinfected with alcohol.
• The procedure should then be carried out using pre-selected parameters in accordance with the readings and the chosen operating protocol.

It is always used individual, single-use, sterile cap, which is removed at the end of the procedure and disposed of as bio-waste.

Results: The first improvements are visible around 1–2 weeks after the treatment. The skin continues to improve over the following 3 months, as collagen is synthesised gradually.

Shelf life: The results may persist for between 1 and 3 years, depending on your lifestyle, age and skin condition.

Morpheus8 is a safe procedure, when carried out by a qualified professional. Possible side effects include:

• Redness and slight swelling
• Micro-tears and flaking
• In rare cases – a change in skin colour, which is usually temporary
• Localised pain, erythema, oedema, crusting, blisters, a burning sensation, hyper- or hypopigmentation, and scarring

Although these effects are rare and are expected to be temporary, the redness and swelling may last for up to 3 weeks and are part of the normal post-procedure reaction.

Burns, changes in pigmentation and scars are rarity and may occur in people with dark skin who do not look after their skin as instructed. Any adverse reaction must be reported immediately.

The procedure is not suitable for:

• Famous allergies to medicines, specifically anaesthetics – lidocaine
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding
• People under the age of 18
• Pacemaker or an internal defibrillator or any electronic implant, as well as a glucose monitor
• Permanent implants in the treated area, such as metal plates and screws, silicone implants or injected chemical substances
• Cancer or a history of cancer, particularly skin cancer or pre-malignant or malignant moles
• A compromised immune system due to immunosuppressive conditions such as AIDS and HIV, or the use of immunosuppressive medicines
• Serious concomitant conditions such as heart disease, epilepsy, uncontrolled hypertension, and liver or kidney disease
• Use of Accutane over the past 6 months
• History of heat-induced conditions, such as systemic herpes simplex in the area being treated
• Any active skin conditions in the treatment area, such as wounds, psoriasis, eczema and rashes
• History of skin conditions, keloids, poor wound healing, as well as very dry and fragile skin
• History of coagulopathies or use of anticoagulants in the last 10 days
• Any facial surgery carried out within one year prior to treatment
• Dermabrasion, facial resurfacing or a deep chemical peel within the last 3 months
• Biological fillers injected into the area within the last 6 months, or Botox over the last two weeks
• Excessive/active skin tanning
• Uncontrolled endocrine disorders such as diabetes or thyroid dysfunction

Preparation and recovery:

• On the day of the procedure Don’t drink coffee.
• A few days before and after the procedure Do not drink alcohol.
• It is advisable to have had a bite to eat before the procedure so that we can keep your blood sugar levels within the normal range.
• You should be in good general health on the day of the procedure.
• Avoid laser hair removal in the treated area at least one week before the procedure.
• Do not actively expose yourself to sun or a solarium At least 2 weeks before and after the treatment. Do not use self-tanning products for at least 1 week beforehand.
• On the day of the treatment, do not apply any creams, lotions, make-up, deodorant or other products to the treated areas. Use only a moisturising cream and sun cream.
• Wear comfortable clothing that covers the treated area without constricting it (when treating areas of the body).
• Avoid exfoliation on the area one week before the procedure.
• Do not visit sauna, steam room, heated pools at least 48 hours before and 10–14 days after the procedure.
• Do not train for 2–4 days after the procedure.
• Follow the recommended aftercare instructions strictly.
• It is recommended that you use moisturising home care during the recovery period.
