Laser hair removal in summer: which areas are suitable

Лазерна епилация на подмишниците с медицински лазер

Recently, we’ve often been asked which areas are suitable for laser hair removal in the summer, given the intense sunshine. This inspired us at laser centre Body Aesthetics will provide a more detailed answer. We hope you find it useful and that you can show off your smoothest possible skin on warm days and evenings. And all without any health risks.

The short answer on which areas are suitable for laser hair removal in the summer

In short, laser hair removal in the summer is suitable for two types of areas:

1) those in which the hairs grow over a longer period of time

и

2) „hidden“ areas, which are not exposed to the sun as much anyway.

Any area can be treated at any time of year, provided it is properly planned. We’ll take a look at which ones are best to start with now, so that we can have a „smooth“ summer.

Let us, however, first discuss a topic that is crucial to our health.

Is it advisable to go out in the sun after laser hair removal?

There is one clear rule here. For at least two weeks before and after the treatment, you should avoid intense exposure to the sun (beach) or sunbeds. You should also avoid using self-tanning products and products designed to give an artificial tan. This is because laser hair removal works on the principle of photothermal exchange. The laser light penetrates the hair via the melanin and is converted into за лазерна епилация през лятото по правилния начин трябват точният апарат и точният медицински експертен екипthermal energy that destroys the hair follicle. Light-coloured and fine hairs, however, contain far less melanin, and the light must travel very quickly to the root of the hair and be converted in order to achieve the desired result. That is why the laser must be extremely powerful.

GentleLase Pro It is a medical alexandrite laser and is the only one in the world that is fast enough to remove the lightest and finest hairs. It is just as effective on dark body hair. However, it is precisely this power that requires us to be very careful not to treat tanned skin, as this can „attract“ the laser beam. If this happens, there is a risk of burns.

That is precisely why, before every treatment, we carry out a consultation and assess both your skin type and your tan. That is also why we ask all those tedious questions, such as when you’re going on holiday. (Not because we want to interfere with your plans.) It’s simply When undergoing laser hair removal, exposure to the sun should only ever take place whilst taking the necessary precautions.

Why the legs are a good place to start with laser hair removal in the summer

Laser hair removal in the summer is best started on areas where hair grows over a longer period of time and, consequently, treatments are spaced further apart. These include, for example, the legs, where treatments are carried out every 60–90 days. We recommend six treatments to achieve a long-lasting, permanent result. In this sense, if you start at the beginning of summer, you’ll enjoy a hair-free period two weeks after the treatment, and the next treatment won’t be until mid-September. By the following summer, we will have achieved the desired long-lasting effect of permanent hair removal. Here is an example treatment plan:

Mid-June: Round I

– the hairs that were in the growth phase and are on the surface are burnt off;за успешна лазерна епилация излагане на слънце е силно непрепоръчително

– the hairs will break through, and so-called ‘false growth’ will be observed, after which they will fall out two weeks after the treatment;

– This is followed by a period of remission, which lasts until just before the next treatment is due.

Mid-September: Second round

– shortly before it is time for the next treatment, the hairs will start to grow back;

– however, these are not the hairs that have already been treated with the laser, but the next „batch” of hairs in that area;

– It creates a false impression of increased hair growth because, in addition to the hairs that have already grown, the skin „pushes out“ the destroyed cells of future hairs.

December: Third round

March next year: Procedure IV

The number of hairs starting to grow has now fallen dramatically.

June next year: Procedure V

We’re in for another perfectly smooth summer!

October next year: Procedure VI

The final treatment can be postponed until growth has stabilised.

„The “hidden’ areas

Other suitable areas to start laser hair removal in the summer are the „hidden“ areas, for example genitals and armpits. We do not expose these areas to the sun, or at least it is not necessary to do so (except on a nudist beach, of course). They are naturally protected simply because of their location on the body. However, it is also important to consider the thickness and colour of our swimwear and clothing. A plain white T-shirt, for example, offers protection equivalent to SPF 5 only! In this sense, sun protection factor should not be overlooked. As well as protecting the skin when chosen wisely, it can also moisturise it, particularly when used in combination with after-sun oils.

If we want to treat any other areas of the torso (chest, back, stomach), we also have the option of a full-body swimsuit.

There is another advantage to the areas on the torso, which include the bikini line and underarms. Hair in these areas also grows over a longer period (although not as long as on the legs): between 45 and 60 days.

Is it possible to have laser hair removal on the face in the summer?

вижте всичко за лазерна епилация през лятото на зона лицеTreatments on areas of the face are carried out at the shortest possible intervals – between 30 and 45 days – and these areas are exposed to the sun. This means they are not ideal for laser hair removal in the summer, because You must not expose yourself to direct sunlight for at least two weeks before and after the procedure. Of course, it all depends on your holiday plans and how diligently you apply sunscreen to the relevant areas. However, you should reapply it every 2–3 hours, which requires a bit of monitoring. And yes, a long walk in the park counts too.

With this in mind, you should ask for advice on the best time to start a facial treatment programme if you’re planning an active summer. The important thing is that it’s not impossible to succeed. Before each procedure, we carry out free consultation. This way, we find out more about your skin and your plans, and we can draw up a personalised hair removal plan. It’s tailored entirely to your schedule. We work exclusively with medical professionals – only qualified doctors and physiotherapists – depending on the specific treatment, area and client. And our coffee is delicious too…

How to look after your skin even if you don’t have laser hair removal in the summer

By now, you should already be aware of whether and when sun exposure is recommended following laser hair removal. There are many ways to protect ourselves from the harmful effects of the sun. Even if we have no plans to undergo hair removal treatment at all, protecting our skin is essential during the summer months. As well as using sun cream, we can manage our time so that we do not expose ourselves to strong sunlight for longer than necessary. We can wear wide-brimmed hats as a stylish accessory, and so on. This topic is important and deserves further attention among the issues that affect our daily skincare and health.
