It’s clear that facial hair can’t solve any real health problems. But the Movember movement is about much more than that. And every year, we look forward to this month for two reasons.
As for the moustache or beard itself – the more extravagant, the better. After all, the idea here is to get noticed.
This is an international movement that aims to draw attention to serious men’s health issues. Movember is a combination of the Australian-English diminutive for „moustache“, „mo”, and the month of November. It is an annual event involving growing a moustache throughout November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, stress and suicide. The Movember Foundation organises charity events on every continent and has raised $769 million to date. In their own words, the aim is, both literally and figuratively, „to change the face of men’s health“.

The truth is that, thanks to the efforts of the foundations and all the men taking part in the campaign, the funds raised have led to real medical innovations, particularly in prostate cancer research. In Canada, for example, a genetic test has been developed that can predict the recurrence of cancer in patients who have been cured.

We at Body Aesthetics want to help promote this idea, and throughout November we’ll be paying special attention to our male clients. Keep an eye on our website and social media for special offers to help you feel happy to be a man.
