Proper skincare enhances our „window to the world“, and in this article we’ll tell you how to achieve it. The face is our most important means of communicating with the outside world. It speaks of our personality and character, expresses emotions and meaning, and reveals our story. However, each of us has parts of our story that we would prefer to hide. This is not a matter of insincerity, but of aesthetics. Just as we tidy up the entrance to our home, so too is cleansing and proper skincare essential. All too often, it bears the brunt of sleepless nights, work, deep emotional experiences and so on, and deserves our attention.
We’re continuing the discussion following Dr Tracheva’s appearance on „The Blondes“ Show’ on Radio Fresh!. There, we discussed the different types of facial treatments and the stars’ favourite treatment – Hydrafacial 2.0. You can try it at laser centre Body Aesthetics.
We are much more effective when we apply make-up to cleansed skin. This is one of the key principles of proper skincare. Even the most expensive skincare products are not absorbed properly by the skin if it hasn’t been cleansed. We don’t paint a wall before we’ve plastered it, do we?
Aggressive or overly frequent cleansing of the skin can have the opposite effect.
It should be done less frequently, but thoroughly and effectively. People think that by exfoliating constantly, they’ll sort out problems such as oily skin. In fact, the truth is that when we do it too often, we trigger an overproduction of oil. This is because the skin tries to compensate through its natural repair mechanism. According to Dr Crystal McElroy of the University of Florida, for example, exfoliating two or three times a week is sufficient for proper facial skincare.
The same applies to cleansing with retinol products. If we overdo it, this interferes with the natural oils that the skin produces to protect itself. Many dermatologists now say that it isn’t necessary to cleanse your face both in the morning and in the evening. Evening cleansing is essential to remove the day’s dirt, make-up and so on. However, whilst we sleep, our skin produces oils that are necessary for its natural hydration and chemical balance, so it is not a good idea to wash them off immediately upon waking. Dr Andrea Desimone, an aesthetic consultant with 25 years„ experience in Manhattan, recommends gently “dabbing’ the face with a damp cotton pad in the morning, without using a cleanser.
If we’re using more than one product, it’s important to apply the thicker or more concentrated one last. It may prevent the nutrients taken in afterwards from being absorbed.
There are now modern technologies that enable high-quality hardware-based facial cleansing. The one we have chosen is the Hydrafacial 2.0. It is the second most popular cosmetic treatment in the US, surpassed only by dermal fillers. We’re talking about a non-invasive facial treatment that doesn’t damage the skin’s integrity. Consequently, there’s no recovery period, unlike with chemical peels, for example.
Hydrafacial 2.0 is a medical facial skincare treatment, developed by the American company Edge System. Broadly speaking, the patented Vortex technology removes the top layer of dead skin cells, after which the skin and pores are cleansed and moisturised. The technology involves creating a vortex – similar to a mini tornado – of special serums and air using a vacuum. This draws out impurities, leaving the pores clean, whilst the serum penetrates deeply to infuse the skin with antioxidants, peptides and herbal ingredients. Treatments are chosen on an individual basis, depending on skin type, with only three of the steps being mandatory: exfoliation, extraction and moisturising. As well as providing a deep-cleansing effect and smoothing out wrinkles, Hydrafacial 2.0 can help with a range of skin problems. These include acne, rosacea, an oily T-zone, blemishes and sunburn, and enlarged pores.
This facial treatment using specialised equipment is the favourite of a host of popular figures from the world of show business. Among them are, for example, Paris Hilton, Beyoncé, Bellamy Young from *Scandal*, Gillian Reynolds, and Janel Parrish from *Pretty Little Liars*. In Bulgaria, it has been successfully tested by popular figures such as Kremena Halvadjian, Geri-Nicole, Biliana Yotovska and others. And there’s a reason for that.
Celebrities are worn out. People working in the media face a great deal of stress, and their facial skin often suffers the most. Whether they are actors, presenters or models, this involves applying heavy make-up every day, irregular working hours, long working days and a lack of sleep. We know how this affects the skin on the face, and it’s particularly unpleasant if you rely on your appearance to earn a living.
Fortunately, today we can make use of the technologies being developed to support these types of professions. This is exactly where HydraFacial 2.0 comes in. Just as Formula 1 racing leads to innovations and improvements in our own cars, the same applies to technologies used in beauty treatments. In this sense, we don’t have to be TV stars to look after our skin. This is particularly true in Sofia, where air pollution and the environment have a very negative impact. This is also one of the reasons why we chose to set up the Body Aesthetics laser centre right next to the leafy South Park.
For us, the most important thing is that you feel good about yourself and face each day with confidence. That is precisely why we seek out the best technologies and offer our visitors the very same treatments enjoyed by Hollywood stars.
