The question of what makes a beauty salon reliable and how to tell whether it is worthy of our trust is of the utmost importance. The risks to our safety do not cease to exist simply because we are bombarded with glossy adverts from all sides. Every minute, thousands of promises of „the best”, „the only one” and „the proven” come flying at us from our phone and TV screens, from radio stations and from the pages of every newspaper and magazine.
However, in order to recognise the true quality of the beauty salon on offer, we need to become almost experts in every single field. That is why we at laser centre At Body Aesthetics, we’ll save you time and effort by helping you find just the right place – that oasis where you’ll feel comfortable and safe, where you can take time for yourself, and where the price of the service is fair. The topic of standards and quality in medical cosmetic procedures is a follow-up to Dr Tracheva’s appearance on „The Blondes“ Show’ on Radio Fresh!.
A truly reliable and trusted beauty salon in Sofia will meet these six criteria. Here they are.
The more alternatives we have before us, the harder it is to make the right decision. This is the great curse of our times – an abundance of options and information, coupled with ever-shorter timeframes for making a choice. Many of our decisions are entirely emotional. However, when we want to make an informed choice – in our case, regarding a beauty salon – we carefully gather information on the following points:
We’d like to offer you a few tips that we hope will make the task a little easier for you. We went through the very same stages ourselves when we set up Body Aesthetics. We sought out top-of-the-range equipment, highly qualified therapists, the most prestigious training programmes, and the best value for money for our clients. That’s how we learnt the following.
When we talk about the latest in cosmetic treatments for the face and body, we are referring to device-based treatments – in other words, technology. Broadly speaking, medical cosmetic devices are much the same as household appliances. You can buy a Sony television for a few thousand leva and get exactly what you pay for. However, you could also pay 600 leva for a television with a brand name like Sany and never understand why half its functions don’t work. There are many cheap Asian imitations of high-end devices on the market. They look very similar to the originals and tempt the owners of every beauty salon to save themselves the high costs. Genuine appliances are easily recognisable. They are most commonly manufactured in the US or Europe and hold all the relevant European and American safety certificates – FDA, CA, etc.. They usually cost as much as a Mercedes S-Class.
Always ask which machine a particular beauty salon uses and check its reputation. There are plenty of review sites online where you can find out what to expect. We have chosen a medical Alexandrite laser and a device for reducing body circumference and eliminating cellulite from the American brand Syneron Candela. Our cryolipolysis machine is manufactured by a Spanish medical equipment company Cocoon, and our facial treatment HydraFacial MD – from the American company Edge System. Each one holds all the necessary safety certifications; dozens of clinical trials have been conducted and millions of procedures have been carried out with flawless results. The reason they are rare here is that they represent a huge investment, which is still considered a risk for the Bulgarian market.
The era of self-taught neighbourhood beauticians is long gone. Cosmetology and medical aesthetics today are not a trade, but a science. It is not only technology that is advancing, but also the knowledge and skills of the specialists who work with it. This trend is becoming increasingly widespread in Bulgaria too the global trend for beauticians working in safe beauty salons to have medical training.

It was extremely important for us to select medical staff, because we know that the outcome of any procedure depends on how it is carried out. We often give the example that the success of laser hair removal Even with the best laser, the outcome depends primarily on a correct assessment of the client’s skin type. This is because the parameters at which the device operates are determined by this assessment. Another simple example would be any facial treatment. If the therapist cannot assess what your skin problems are, how could they possibly offer a solution?!
Always ask about the qualifications of the person to whom you are entrusting not only your appearance but also your health.
The first thing you can look for to judge whether you are in a safe, high-quality beauty salon is the so-called. informed consent. If they do not let you sign it, you should at least be given detailed information about the upcoming treatment. Note whether they tell you about the ingredients in the cosmetics, the method of the treatment, and whether they ask you about any medical conditions or allergies. If they do not warn you about any contraindications (let’s not kid ourselves: there are no treatments that have absolutely no contraindications at all), ask about them. That way, you can be sure that you can safely undergo the treatment. And the most basic facial cleansing It is not suitable for certain types of hormone therapy. Anti-cellulite massage, for example, can cause serious harm if you have varicose veins. Heat treatments are dangerous if you have high blood pressure. Do not be taken in by the claim „It’s nothing to worry about!”.
At our safe beauty salon in Sofia and across the country, every beauty treatment involves the use of single-use or reusable consumables. What you need to bear in mind is whether they open the single-use ones in front of you and whether they throw them away after use. Also, whether they clean them
multiple professional. Any compromise in this regard carries the risk of infection and contracting diseases from others.
We often have visitors who are surprised when they first learn that Hydrafacial nozzles are used only once. (All waste products from the skin’s pores, as well as epithelial cells and bacteria, pass through them.) Others are unaware that the CoolTech protective cryomembranes must be opened in front of them and discarded after the treatment. (Reusing them carries a risk of serious frostbite to the skin.) Still others are surprised that we advise them to use sun cream before and after every facial treatment.
However, as we employ healthcare professionals, compromising on health and safety is unacceptable. They were taught first and foremost not to cause harm, and only then to help.
To explain why price can be a factor in determining whether your beauty salon offers a high-quality service, we’ll either need to explain the principles of pricing or give you a good example. If you see frozen strawberries in a shop for 50 leva a kilo, you’re more likely to immediately suspect that it’s a scam. However, if they’re selling them for 50 stotinki, that’ll also raise suspicions – for example, that they’ve gone past their use-by date.
Unfortunately, it’s a bit trickier when it comes to beauty treatments: new ones are constantly popping up and you never know which ones to compare. We can offer you a few tips. Check whether everything is constantly on offer at that beauty salon in Sofia or elsewhere in the country that you’re thinking of visiting. If that’s the case, the prices are probably artificially inflated and the ‘real’ prices are actually the promotional ones. If the price seems very high compared to others on the market, make sure of a few key things. In this case, the device or treatment must be truly top-of-the-range and stand out for its quality, effectiveness and innovation.
Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have, as a knowledgeable answer is a good sign. We often receive enquiries about our laser hair removal prices – for example, why do we offer package prices for just 6 sessions? There is only one answer. With our laser, it usually takes just that many sessions to permanently remove hair from the treated area for around 15 years, so there’s no need for any more.
Carefully Read the terms and conditions of the promotions and see if it really works out cheaper for you. In our view, for example, 10 treatments at 20 leva each are no cheaper than 6 treatments for 200 leva. On the contrary – they will take you more time and effort, and we all know full well that time is money.
The easiest way to find out To determine whether the value for money on offer meets your requirements, you should take note of the reviews and recommendations left by others.
It is a fact that these days anyone can post whatever they like on social media. It is also true that there are
There are lots of fake profiles. They’re created either so that someone can boast about themselves, or by competitors – to badmouth a rival beauty salon. You can spot some of the fake Facebook profiles by the number of friends they have, whether they’ve posted recently, and whether they’re active. Genuine comments are even easier to spot – they sound sincere and have their own distinctive style. You can always ask a question of the person whose review has caught your interest. More and more websites are finding ways to curb fake comments, and rating systems are becoming increasingly reliable.
We, for example, decided to We post video surveys with our visitors on Instagram – we can’t pull the wool over your eyes in a video. This is an excellent quality benchmark for any beauty salon in Sofia and across the country.
At this point, we’re simply unable to offer you any good advice. Sometimes we intuitively choose a particular service or product that we’ve recognised as ‘the one’ purely on a gut feeling. It might be because of a photograph, the look of the website, the address or the name. The only factor here is your own taste and sense of style.
What we aim to offer to those interested in our services is our free consultations for every treatment we offer. They do not oblige you to buy anything; they simply give you the chance to get to know us and ask any questions you may have. They also give you the opportunity to tell us about your concerns and to decide (or get a feel for) for yourself whether we’re the right fit for you.

We draw our satisfaction from living up to your expectations and the positive feedback we receive.
